Refugees SG (Update 1)

Just spent 4 hours doing the Refugee SG website…

Refugee SG seems to be off to a good start- with the work of Rishik, Zhong Hao, and Jun Han, we’ve got the possibility of a 50 min contact time slot in TJ, and exhibitions in IJ, TJ and RJ.

I’m hoping the viral email campaign will really work out: this, as much for me than anybody else, is also a test of how effective the internet is as a tool for spreading a campaign. I’m hoping at least 2000 people visit this website, and at least 10% of them sign the petition- 200 people shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

Mr. Charles Chong (MP, Pasir Ris Punggol GRC) who is part of the AIPMC has been a great help in everything, sending us travel journals, offering to write to the MOE in support of us and everything. It’s only a pity that this project comes a juncture where I cannot commit too much time to it- otherwise, the Refugees SG exhibition could be extended to a few more schools, and its impact amplified.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kwok has sent David and I photos from the UNAS Seminar earlier this year. It’s amazing to think how a project can start from the unlikeliest of places…

Me, Mr. Edmund Kwok, David at the UNAS Seminar ’07. I had 2 hours of sleep the night before, and it shows…
