New Chapter

January 21, 2009 . No Comments

2009 has come, and I am now better integrated into the American culture and college life in general. The first three months were a constant struggle to find that fine balance between maintaining my cultural identity and assimilating the American culture; I will write more about this some time in the future. For one, I now understand scholars from China and elsewhere who come to study in Singapore a bit better- I am, in a way, a “China” scholar in a land which is not my own.

Brainstorming the Needintel Idea

I have also been working on an idea I had while in army- a user-edited infobase of all the slums, villages and refugee camps in the world. that aggregates information about them, their needs, and who is or was involved in helping them. You can read more at www.needintel.org, a site I set up to find people to work with me on the idea. I have been doing work on the idea, and have got together a team of us to begin work on it. Will chronicle its development on this blog, and see where it leads me.

On another note, I have started blogging again! The past few months have been packed with trying to integrate into American society, and I really neglected this blog. Have restarted it since- after all, I’m here only because everybody paid for it, and the least I could do is share what I learn with everyone else. I spent the weekend redoing the blog, and adding my twitter feed- and so here we go :)
