]]> Stanford mailing lists should be banned; I receive an average of 250 emails a day, of which only about 20 are of vague interest to me. Today I get 360 emails, and am about to delete them all, when I see this email from Sparkseed:

Sparkseed is a nonprofit organization that “invests in the social entrepreneurs of tomorrow”, and provides guidance, funding and the tools to undergraduate social innovators. I applied a week or so back, writing about the UnseenPeople idea. Now I will have to find out how to manage my looming finals, projects, and the sparkseed application- and the actual development of the UnseenPeople project itself.

In the past, I used to look down on these “development programs”, thinking them unnecessary. Now I realise that was just plain arrogance; my time in Stanford, and in trying to get UnseenPeople off the ground just shows me how much more I need to learn. Building on the wisdom of others, perhaps, is still the easiest way to not fail.
